Beeston Open Gardens June 12th 2011
This was the 6th year of our open garden and the first to have been affected by rain. Luckily it was not a complete failure.
The committee put on their waterproofs and made the best of the situation. Some visitors arrived braving the weather to walk around sodden gardens, before enjoying Val Haygarth’s famous cream teas and spending generously on the plant stall. As a result we raised a profit in excess of £500; about half the amount of previous year most of which came from teas, raffle and plants.
This helped us send £300 to local charities and support the upkeep
of Beeston Green and the Wildlife Group.
We hope for better weather next year and look forward to a successful day.
