Beeston Open Gardens 2009 £1308.70 raised for local causes.
Beeston Open Gardens was held on Sunday 14th June on a glorious sunny day and was well attended making a record profit again this year for local and other charities.
The Committee members and garden owners had worked un-stintingly all week to make the day such a success. Frank Fattori, Poppy Cope and Rita Patterson sold tickets and the homemade teas run by Val Haygarth and team of Penny Fattori, Katrina Bourne, Michael Haygarth and Thomas Moretti were busy all afternoon. There were 33 prizes in the raffle run by David and Nicola Walker which was supported most generously by Frosts, Asterby, Chalkcroft, Seddington Nurseries, Cheshum Roses and many residents who donated lovely prizes as well as plants for our popular and well stocked plant stall run by Jean and Brian Gouldesborough and Joan and Derek Redhead.
There were nine gardens open including several new ones which were of added interest, everyone was very different from newly established, organic, and established ranging from large to small and everything in-between. Our thanks to Gillian & Malcolm Wilkes, Valerie & Malcolm Abrey, Vicky & Paul Hodson, Pat Wright, John & Nina Moretti, Cynthia & John Tester, Rose Barker, Paul and Tasha Hetherington and Valerie & Michael Haygarth all of whom have maintained a very high standard for visitors to enjoy.
We are sure all the visitors who came from as far away as the United States and the other side of the county enjoyed themselves from their comments, it is always such fun to meet like minded people.
The children were well catered for by Vicky Blackman and Jane Kilby who did face painting and artwork with them and several went home with a sunflower to grow for the Tallest Sunflower Competition.
We hope to receive many entries of the day for the Best Photo Competition, please email your entry to email@example.com" by 20.00 hrs on Monday 22.6.09. The winning entry will be put up on our website and receive a prize.
If you enjoyed your afternoon put Sunday 13th June 2010 in your diary for next year when a different set of gardens be open.
Our thanks to one and all for supporting us this year.
