Beeston Open Gardens
Sunday 10th June 2012
By BOG chair – Pat Wright
Another very successful Open Gardens Event, for Beeston, this year, 10 gardens were open around The Green
and both sides of the A1. The weather was kind to us this year so lots of people came to explore our gardens,
buy plants from our very popular plant stall and enjoy teas at 19 The Green provided by Val Haygarth helped by
her practiced washer uppers Bryan Bourne & Michael Haygarth.
A successful advertising campaign which included a mention in the Sunday Telegraph brought in new visitors from
as far away as Heathrow and Norfolk with many compliments about the gardens and their friendly openers.
We took nearly £1500 less expenses of around £300, leaving us with a profit of £1200.
As usual most of this money goes to local charities plus the upkeep of the seasonal boxes around the green which
are taken care of by members of the committee. Decisions on which charities we will support this year will be
made at the September committee meeting and the results will be posted on the website.
